Hello from Osan Air Base “Land of the Morning Calm”Major David JonesAirfield Operations Flight CommanderDSN784-135651ossosa@osan.af.mil
Cordless Land Air Wildlife System (CLAWS) • Primarily used for relocating birds at airports • Eight radio controlled rotating propane cannons with 100 watt stereo sound are manually operated via remote control
Problem 1. High concentrations of birds on airfield during migratory seasons 2. Existing propane cannons ineffective 3. Two vehicles and personnel required to relocate birds during flight operations Solution Purchase remote controlled effective bird relocation system...the Cadillac not the Chevette
Features • ECO-Triplex propane cannon • Stainless steel rotating stand (pinned to the ground) • Solar cell charges battery • Radio receiver • Four 100 watt horn speakers • 100 watt stereo power amplifier • Recording of over 25 stereo sound effects
How It Works • The “Control Hub” will be software and the base station in the tower • Computer can randomly operate system • SOF or controller can manually activate from keyboard • Two handheld remote controls • Safety and Base Operations
No Action or System Alone Can Do It All • CLAWS is a force multiplier • Occasional depredation will be necessary • Grass height, water elimination, food eradication efforts must continue • An increase in BWC can be directed by SOF, Base Ops, or tower - - Proper mind set is essential! • All must agree on decreasing BWC
