Mission: The Delta CARES Program, sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a North Carolina statewide support and online resource guide to assist in the quality of lives of families raising and/or caring for relatives.
Q: What is the need for the program? A: According to the 2010 US Census, 232,968 children under age 18 live in homes where the householders are grandparents or other relatives (10.2% of the children in the state.) About ½ of the families are African American and most of those households meet the poverty-level criteria.
Q: How will Delta CARES be implemented? •A: Delta CARES will be introduced to the community by a “Delta Date” at the various community boards including: school system, Department of Social Services, Council on Aging, and faith-based associations.
Programmatic Thrusts • This holistic project covers the five program thrusts. • In addition, all households assisted will receive information about the NC House Bill 351-NC Voting Rights. • NC Fellows believe we can assist at families with at-risk children, elderly, and disabled through Delta CARES.
