Brief Description and Rationale: • Brief Description: For this assignment, I will answer the following questions on why I want to become a teacher and what type of teacher I want to be, traits I possess, and how I will contribute to the community. • Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #9, Professional Learning and Ethical Practice, I selected to include information from the textbook and an article we talked about in class because this assignment demonstrates my ability to use evidence based on experience and knowledge of myself on why I want to become a teacher and how I can benefit the community. The article illustrates how I will develop my educational philosophy. This ensures that I will engage in ongoing professional learning and use evidence to continue to evaluate my past, current, and future choices and actions so I can become the best teacher I can be!
Reasons why I want to become a teacher • “Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.” –Soloman Ortiz • Enrich the lives of students. • Inspire students to have the desire and want to learn. • Teaching is my calling. • Help make the community a better place.
Traits I possess • In textbook, it states that the qualities of a good teacher needs to have the 5 “C’s”: • Committed • Caring • Courageous • Conscious • Centered
What kind of Teacher I want to become? • “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.” -Brad Henry • On the worksheet, “How Can You Develop Your Educational Philosophy?” I scored a 24 on Reconstructionism and a 23 on Progressivism. • Create a safe and fun learning environment • I want my students to know I care and have love for each and every one of them.
