Where to shop? • Factory Outlets: stores that sell factory overruns or flawed items for bargain prices. • Discount Stores: carry “designer knock off items” or stylish and fashionable clothing for cheaper. • Catalogs: print or online shopping is convenient & prices are comparable (shipping cost)
Where to shop cont. • Department Stores: • Carry a large variety of merchandise • Specialty Stores: • Ex: pet stores, make up stores, furniture, etc. • Does anyone ever buy an item (electronics, clothing, shoes, etc.) without really thinking about it?? • That is called an IMPULSE BUY!!!
A little clothing math…. Let’s start simple… There is a sale at the dept. store on sweaters: Buy 1 get the 2nd ½ off!! Both of the sweaters are $56.70. You get both of them. Tax is $3.92. What is your total bill? $56.70+28.35+3.92= $88.97 Let’s try another… You buy 3 items at the store: $73.00 (jeans) $23.07 (top) $84.02 (shoes) The tax rate is 9% What is your total bill? $73.00+ $23.07+ $84.02+ $16.21=$196.3
