AND THE WALLS CAME TUMBLIN’ DOWN!. The walls of Jericho, the unconquerable walls of Jericho, ‘come tumbling down,’ as the walls literally “…collapsed…” Joshua 6:20.

The walls of Jericho, the unconquerable walls of Jericho, ‘come tumbling down,’ as the walls literally “…collapsed…”Joshua 6:20
To be precise: seven priests carried “…trumpets of ram’s horns in front of the ark (of the covenant)…with the priests blowing the trumpets…”(Joshua 6:4)in a sacred enterprise
“When the trumpets sounded…” Joshua 6 tells us – “…the people shouted at the sound of the trumpet…” (Joshua 6:20) – reminiscent of David’s admonition in Psalm 20:5 -- “may we shout for joy….and raise a victory banner in the name of our God.May the Lord answer all [our] prayers.” (Psalm 20:5, NLT)
There are six prayers in the book of Acts, the majority of which are simple and short; for example the prayer of Stephen for his enemies in Acts 7:59-60, is only 13 words, the prayer of Paul for instruction in Acts 9:5-6, is only 12 words, and the prayer of Peter for the resurrection of Tabitha in Acts 9:40, is only 2 words
Help, Lord! -- “…remember me…You will call and I will answer you….My offenses will be sealed up in a bag -- you will cover my sin…”(Job 14:13-17).
Thanks, Lord! – “…the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, may the name of the Lord be praised…”(Job 1:21).
Wow, Lord! -- “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted…”(Job 42:2).
I won’t always get what when I boldly pray -- but I will always get what I need.
‘Take off your sandals [Joshua. Surrender] -- for the place where you are standing is holy [ground]…” And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:15).
For as the writer of Hebrews reminds us: it was “…by faith the walls of Jericho fell….” (Hebrews 11:30). It is by total surrender to God that the biggest obstacles – the steepest challenges – the unconquerable problems – are indeed conquered after all.
