3. Stretch Aim WORKSTREAM 2 85% of all childrenwithin North, South and East Ayrshire will reach expected developmental skills and abilities expected at 27 month old

4. Our focus from LS1 to LS2 To practice using the Improvement tool PDSA small tests of change in own working areas. A common understanding of the stretch aim Implement a universal assessment for all children at 27 mths To implement a universal timeline of assessments prior to 27 mths To consider interventional care pathways

5. INSIGHTS First Ayrshire wide WS2 meetingFriday 3rd May Our TOP 5 INSIGHTS FROM THE WS2 TEAM MEETING We could agree a common understanding of child development. Shared knowledge of the universal 27mthassessment content/process. Shared knowledge of the universal timeline for assessments & contacts prior to 27mth. WS2 Driver diagram discussed and agreement that is aligned and fits with our tests of change Recognition of gaps and importance of data collection from tests

Some of our testing Test examples from Away Team • To test the knowledge and understanding of the Solihull Approach • Number of parents accessing groups specific to their parenting needs • Impact on parental knowledge through additional HV support for parents in community settings. (Nursery) • To measure knowledge of children’s developmental milestones. • Understand professional barriers to information sharing where child wellbeing could be affected • Understand parental barriers to information sharing where child wellbeing could be affected • Impact of interventional home based support re parental confidence around infant routines • Following parenting intervention in Early Years establishment test increase in knowledge, ability and confidence • To test parental engagement via 27 month flyer

Learning from testing PDSA I feel prevent people from taking immediate actions based on observations without having a clear picture of real impact Allowed the user to have clarity around what they were trying to acheive I found the process to be useful I feel there were comments made that I had not considered prior to the tests The test highlighted the need for input around developmental milestones I learned how much the nursery and Health Visiting staff valued the opportunity to speak directly with each other about child well being and parental support Provided me with a useful model to follow Once we know the barrier, discuss, change and repeat, these cycles will give us run charts

9. Our Results So Far All away team members have increased confidence of the PDSA tool now exploring data collections All away team members have agreed the primary and secondary drivers in the Driver Diagram and where testing fits We have limited experience in collating data using run charts.

Our Results So Far From April 2013 100% of Ayrshire children reaching 27 months are offered a home based assessment by the Health Visitor, following The National Child Health Programme The WS2 away team have a shared understanding of skills and abilities (developmental milestones) all have copies of Mary Sheridan assessment guide, the Child Health Programme, The Health Visitor assessment and Ages/Stages validated assessment tool. The WS2 away team have a shared understanding of the universal Health Visitor assessment timeline which could identify early developmental delays and interventional support The WS2 away teams arranging for home teams to have understanding as above 4 Care Pathway groups in early stages to assist where skills/abilities or delays in development are identified NUTRITION , ORAL WELLBEING, GLOBAL DEVELOPMENTAL AFFECT OR A LONG TERM MEDICAL CONDIITION, COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE

What are we working on • Parental access to support to increase confidence and knowledge • Information sharing across service on wellbeing • Integration of HV clinics within Early Years settings to share • intelligence, increase access and opportunities • Parental Knowledge and skills following intervention • Use of Solihull in practice • Early detection of developmental delays or other health/wellbeing • related matters • Uptake of 27 month assessment and ASQ Tool
