Characteristics of Protocubism • Simplification of natural forms (Cylinders, spheres and cones) • Represent all facets of a three dimensional object on a single picture plane
Characteristics of Analytical Cubism • Breaking a piece down into it's basic geometric components on one picture plane • analysis of the subjects (pulling them apart into planes)
Characteristics of Synthetic Cubism • pushing of several objects together • Collage--physical pieces of newspaper clippings, journals, sheet music were added to the composition • fewer planar shifts • less shading and flatter space
