  2. Our objectives: • To analyze the population as a whole and their needs • To assess our community for their concerns and stressors • To obtain a different perspective from instructors over our community • To identify ways to prevent stress overload and improve coping mechanisms

  3. Assessment tools used to collect data • Windshield survey • College of Nursing stress survey • Handed out in class to all first semester junior students • Obtained student feedback pertaining to concerns of the CON • Teacher Survey • Emailed to the teachers of Pharmacology, Foundations, and Theory and Research

  4. Community • First semester junior College of Nursing students • Strengths • Good support systems • Family, friends, spouse/significant other, religion, sports team, social group, class mates • Future job security • Coping skills • Know learning styles best fit for them • Needs • Financial assistance • Alternative coping skills • Time management/prioritization • Better self-care (sleep, nutrition, exercise)

Population • ETSU campus • College of Nursing building (Roy Nicks Hall) • Strengths • Easy access to: food, transportation, shopping, gym, library, entertainment, housing, and recreational activities • Public safety • Job opportunities • Medical care • Needs • More accessible parking • Better lighting, ramps, and hand rails • Safer walking area (better sidewalks and pedestrian crossing) • Better road/directional signs

Project Plans • Sending out a second survey to reassess stressors • Giving instructors insight to what the students concerns are with the College of Nursing • Holding an informative TIPS session including: • Eating healthy • Time management • Coping skills • Prioritization • Exercise options • Relaxation strategies
