The proposed graduate certificate in Geographic information systems is intended for students currently admitted to a graduate program at the U of M or another university or students holding a graduate degree with an interest in using GIS as a problem-solving The GIS Certificate Program will provide students with: An interdisciplinary perspective which will allow them to integrate GIS skills into their knowledge acquired in other disciplines; Competitive skills and training for jobs in which GIS skills are essential; Competitive skills and training for entrance into a PhD program; A focus on advanced analytical skills; A diverse range of applications; Access to top quality instructors, Access to State-of-the-art GIS lab facilities; Use of industry-leading software To review the course requirement, go to http://des.memphis.edu/esra/GIScertificate/GIScertificate-2.htm. Admission Requirements: Students currently admitted to a graduate program at the U of M or another university or students holding a graduate degree may apply for admission. For students enrolled in a graduate program, a minimum of GPA 3.0 is required for admission. Students must apply to both the certificate program and the graduate school.
