Overview Singapore Math uses five components daily: • Mental Math (5 minutes) • Teacher Directed Instruction (15 Minutes) • Activity (15 minutes) • Model Drawing (10 Minutes) • Independent Practice (15 minutes)
Place Value Game Round 1- Make the Greatest Number Round 2- Make the Least Number Round 3- Make the number closest to 50,000 How to play: • When a number called out put it on a line. • You must place numbers before the next numbers are called. • You may not have a zero in the ten thousands place.
What Can You Do At Home? • Be supportive and talk to you child about math. • Use your child’s teacher as a resources. Feel free to write questions in the workbook so the teacher can better assist the child. • Practice math routinely. • Involve your child in the math you use everyday.
What Can You Do At Home? • Find real-world situation to practice mental math • Wait until your child understands a concept before teaching him a computational short cut. • Talk about the Math you see in picture books.
