Introduction • Assembly Bill 127 (Chapter 35, Statutes of 2006 – Nunez and Perata) established the Overcrowding Relief Grant (ORG) (Education Code sections 17079–17079.30) • $1 billion available • Replace portable classrooms with permanent classrooms on overcrowded school sites with permanent classrooms
Eligible Schools • School sites must be deemed eligible by CDE • School site must have pupil population density equal to or greater than 175% of CDE’s recommended population density • Based on population density utilizing the 2005/06 California Basic Educational Data Systems (CBEDS)
Adjustment to Per Pupil Density • Students to be housed in new construction projects including Critically Overcrowded Schools projects • Students housed in classrooms above or below the first floor (multi-level adjustment)

Eligible Pupils Part B Enter number of portables on school site • Multiple by State loading standard • Less pupils housed in portables purchased with Class Size Reduction funds
Form Submission • Form filled out on Web and submitted electronically • Print Hard copy • Sign and date • Mail originals to CDE – Lisa Constancio • Continuous filing (list posted periodically on CDE web site) • 1st Funding cycle due to OPSC 1/31/08
