Introductions • Ben Brown—Principal • Scott Laman—Athletic Director • Kristin Henley- Athletic Secretary • Winter Coaches: • Cheer: Casey Farmer, Meghan Lester • 7th Football: Jay Zurlindin, Jim Breech, Scotty Johnson • 8th Football: Ken Jones, Russ Turner • Volleyball: Kyleigh Feenstra, Jessica Lambert • Cross Country: Frank Willis, Mike McManus • Golf: Eric Numbers • Girls Tennis: Sheri Frey

  4. Coaching Qualifications • In order to be board approved, coaches have to complete the following steps: • Apply for a Ohio Pupil Activity Permit (3-5 years) • Fundamentals of Coaching Class • First Aid, Health, and Safety for Coaches Class • Concussions in Sports Class • CPR • Cardiac Arrest • FBI/BCI Background Check and Fingerprinting

  5. Trainer • Carlee Shafer- We encourage you to see her first before going to the doctor • Contact information can be acquired from Coaches!

  6. Paperwork • All Paperwork on Final forms must be completed before a student will be permitted to participate • SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST IS NEW!!!

  7.   8. Social Media • Social media can result in discipline handed down by administration! • Twitter, Snap chat, facebook, etc….- USE IT APROPRAITELY OR CONSEQUECES WILL FOLLOW!!!

  9. Eligibility • Students are expected to maintain good grades. • Eligibility will be run electronically and checked by Mrs. Conley or myself each Monday. • According to the OHSAA, any student that is not passing FIVE classes will be ineligible for any and all games the entire week. • End of 9 weeks- not passing 5 classes- YOU ARE INELIGIBLE TO PLAY SPORTS FOLLOWING 9 WEEKS!! • Some coaches will bench an athlete with one F; it is at the coach’s discretion. • NOTE: FIRST 3 WEEKS OF THE 9 WEEKS IS A GRACE PERIOD FOR WEEKLY CHECKS!

  10. Grades get you Scholarships!! • MAGIC NUMBER- 2.5 GPA and 25 on ACT can allow you to start getting looked at. • Around a 3.0 GPA- you have about 50% of schools you can attend! • Minimum- NCAA Division 1 and 2 have a 2.3 minimum GPA and the NAIA is 2.0 GPA • GRADES MATTER- SOME OF YOU WILL TAKE HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT CLASSES!!!

  11. Participation Fees • Participation fees for the 2019 school year are $150. • Family Cap- $400, $600, $800 (pending # kids) • You may pay on EZPay with a credit card or pay with cash, check, or money order to the front office. • Checks- Make payable to Lakota Ridge Atheltics • Central Office will be invoicing payments this year- cut in fees results in a lot of credits! • They are due by first game or you don’t play!!

  12. Daily Attendance • An athlete must attend school at least one half of the regular school day to be eligible to practice or compete interscholastically. • This would mean you need to be at school by 10:45 AM to go to practice or a game. • If you are too ill to come to school, you are too ill to participate in athletics that day.

  13. Game Transportation • Transportation to all away games will be provided by the school. • In most cases, athletes will stay after school and report to the cafeteria. Athletes will have a snack provided by the team and wait for their transportaion to arrive around 3:30 PM. • Transportation is DROP ONLY. Transportation will NOT be provided back from the away contests. - This includes football this year!!- Too much money going away!!

  14. Practice Transportation • Students that are participating in golf, cross country, and tennis will be provided a shuttle to their practice locations. • The bus will be parked outside at 2:00 PM and will transport them to practice. • Parents will need to pick them up from those practice locations.

  15. Practice and Game Pick up! • Parents are expected to pick up their child no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of practice or games! • Coaches are not available, nor paid to supervise after these times! • Students- must be in cafeteria or coaches room after school- NO EXCEPTIONS!!! • Roaming the halls will NOT be permitted!

  16. Fundraising • T-Shirts • $20. Gets students in FREE to home games! • Concessions • Concessions are sold at all home football, volleyball, and basketball games. • Fundraising • Working on coming up with something BIG!!

  17. Athletic Pictures • August 23rd- After School • Picture Forms will be handed out by Coaches!
