  3. Basic facts • Duration 24 months (Dec. 2002 - Nov. 2004) • Close collaboration with DG Research and CAFE • Shadow the CAFE process • Make use of scientific research in Europe, in particular EU funded projects • Open process

  4. Opportunity for CAFE? • NEPAP offers an opportunity for CAFE to broaden the range of science input to the process • The NEPAP consortium can provide independent review of the CAFE work

  5. NEPAP resources • Experience in directed assessment work (NEGTAP, EUROTRAC, SCOPE, EMEP, IGBP, IPCC, WMO etc.) • Close links to DG Research activities • Close links with national and international policy processes (EU directives, UNECE) • Broad competence (atmospheric chemistry, monitoring and modelling, ecosystem effects, human exposure, integrated assessments)
