Here are 4 different definitions (#3 captures the essence without being too wordy): • Systematic technique, method, or approach to solve a problem • Applying science • Using a tool or means to improve our lives • Commonly (but not accurately) thought of as computer technology

  3. What is Technology Education? 2 definitions with similar ideas: • Study of human ability to create & use tools to shape the natural environment to meet their needs • Learning the skills necessary to use technology tools

  4. What is Educational Technology? 2 different authors (focus on the 1st): • “Any technology used by educators in support of teaching & learning” (Lever-Duffy, McDonal, & Mizell, 2005). • “A combination of the processes & tools involved in addressing educational needs & problems, with an emphasis on applying the most current tools: computers & other electronic technologies” (Roblyer, 2006)
