GRSP Activities and Future Needs “2004, a very significant year in international and regional road safety”. - World Report Released (review- June 2009) • World Business Council for Sustainable Development = mobility project = GRSI (2005) • ASEAN Road Safety Strategy (2009/10 =update?)
GRSP Regional Action Typology Death and Injury Behaviors of Road Users, Deliverers and Providers GPM and iRAP Countermeasure Enablers Standards Technology Codes Capacity building Regulations Products Laws Information Level 1 Pre Conditioners Policing Management + Structure Strategy + Action Plan Data and Performance Monitoring/Indicators Funding Research and Evaluation PEOPLE, VEHICLES, ROADS Level 2 Level 3 Level 4
GRSP Activities and Future Needs • - Excellent behavioural outcomes in many countries, increased commitment and focus • - Regional seminar reconvened • - Regionalisation strategy implemented • - In country manager approach implemented and staffing levels increased • - Process evaluation and independent outcome evaluations confirm approach recommends GRSI to be continued
GRSP Activities and Future Needs • GRSI Members 2005 -2010, (2010 – 2015?)
ASEAN Issues and Needs • - Alignment of World Report, Safe Systems, iRAP and GPM’s • - Compatibility with existing and developing in country action plans • - Greater focus on capacity building • - Funding must be assured • - World Report on Child Injury should be focus • - 2007 Region seminar said “ASEAN Road Safety Strategy (05 - 10) • is very useful and has influenced the direction of road safety at National level • supports national road safety strategies andaction plan • encourages knowledge sharing. • 9 of the 10 ASEAN members would like it to be updated”
In Summary • « There is overwhelming need to make 2009/10 very significant years in regional road safety as we commence a decade of action »
