Staff Recommendation Staff Recommendation: Approval of landmark designation of property (P.M.C. 17.62.040 - criterion “C”). Applicant / owner – City Ventures. House is architecturally significant for 1920s era Mediterranean Revival style architecture. Portions of gardens are significant landscape design of 1963 by Garret Eckbo for Ambassador College.

History and Significance Mediterranean Revival style house constructed in 1924 by Walter C. Folland as a single family residence. Adjacent gardens were redesigned for Ambassador College by significant landscape architect Garret Eckbo. House and gardens retain original architectural and landscape integrity.
Incentives of Landmark Designation 1) Eligibility for Mills Act property contract to reduce property taxes in exchange for maintaining historic character of property. 2) Flexibility with State Historical Building Codes. 3) Eligibility for Variance for Historic Resources of the Zoning Code.
