Political focus on climate change since the election 2006 in Nacka • Reduce green house emissions from travels and transports • Enable environmentally friendly cars in the municipality • Phase out conventional cars and introduce EFV
Where did we start? • General situation • Difficult to take stock of existing cars in regard to ownership, policies, costs or placement • “Me, my car and I” mentality in some divisions • Less then 10% EFV in the organisation • Travel survey 2007 • Using car (40%) • Using public transport (30%) • Biking & walking • Attitude screening – positive!
First steps • Inventory of the car stock • Cost analysis • How much do owned car cost (special cars excluded) • Mileage allowance • Parking costs • Taxi costs • Administration • Analysis of possibilities for carpool • Information and communication in the top of the organisation
Travel policy Ask yourself !! • Do you have to travel – are there alternatives? • Choose train, bus … • If you go by car – travel together • Choose EFV • Do not fly! Only long distances • Climate compensation • EFV taxi
Actions • Strict rules (policy) for the procurement and use of cars • Phasing out conventional cars • Now 71 % EFV, project expected to finish 2011 • Carpool with 6 cars for the city hall (500 employees) • Some of whom uses official cars instead • Ban on using private car (unless EFV) for work related travels if you work at the city hall • Parking fee at the city hall to subsidize public transportation season-tickets • EFV do not pay parking fee • For employees and politicians with workplace city hall • Bike pool etc.
Coordinated logistics 167 units 33 000 deliveries / year 200 + deliverers All times of day Many small orders (80 % < 300 €) One delivery/week Larger orders Safer local traffic Less environmental impact
Results • Reduced flight travel • Increased railway travel • Radically decreased mileage for work related driving • Lower costs for travels • 100 subsadised season-tickets for public tranportation • Generally positive attitude
Coming steps • Decrease greenhouse emissions from travels 10 % in 3 years • Communicate travel survey 2009 and CERO – results • Find individual goals for each division • Search for new possible locations for carpools • Procurement of electric cars (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and traditional) • Enabling Nacka for electric cars • Loading stations • Information
