  3. The Guide • “Bibliographic collection [books] from major publishers in computing with over 945,000 entries.” • Check the Library Catalog, MOBIUS, ebrary, & ILL to obtain copies.

  4. Searching the Digital Library • From the initial search screen click Go to the ACM Digital Library.

  5. Using Advanced Search • Click the Advanced Search link.

  6. Narrowing a Search • Enter cryptography on the first line[all of this text (and)]to retrieve 3,348 results • Enter cryptography identity on the first line to retrieve 1,135 results • Enter cryptography identity recognition on the first line to retrieve 118 results

  7. Refining a Search • Enter the words medical pharmacy doctor hospital on the second search line[any of this text (or) • Retrieve 26 records that are focused on the medical aspects of this subject

  8. Type your own search statement • Click Refine these results with Advanced Search

  9. Change Your Search • Highlight cryptography and identity and recognition and type identity in their place • Your new search will look like this:

Continue to Refine the Search • You can continue to refine the search by clicking Refine these results with Advanced Search and entering additional search terms connected with the operator and • Identity and (medical or pharmacy or doctor or hospital) = 1,348 articles • Identity and (medical or pharmacy or doctor or hospital) and recognition = 392 articles
