  1. “Topic of the Day” Sexuality – A biblical perspective

  2. Conclusions • God’s love and desire for humanity is to seek, find, restore & redeem all that is broken. • Sex is a gift from God to be enjoyed. This gift has been given within the context of a lifelong, heterosexual, monogamous relationship (i.e. 1 man, 1 woman for life) • Our bodies (as well as our spirits) are precious to God; so what we do with them is important. • Being tempted to sin (sexually or otherwise) is not condemned anywhere in scripture. How we deal with those temptations/desires is important. • The implications for us as the Church are twofold: • To continually repent, acknowledge our forgiveness. To be open, and accountable to each other as we seek to live lives of discipleship, holy and pleasing to God • To share the Good News of forgiveness and hope to all. Make disciples, teach them everything and help them walk a life of discipleship holy and pleasing to God.

  3. 1) The Big Picture Galatians 3:28 – Unity in Christ Sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissentions, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, ... Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness & Self-Control

  4. 2) A biblical perspective • Rom1:18-32 • All are without excuse • The consequences of God’s wrath • Contrast brokenness observed by Paul with the creation recorded in Gen1&2 • ICor 6:9-11 (& ITim 1:10-11) • ‘sexual immorality’ • Malakoi • Arsenokoitai

  5. 3) Arguments from the ‘World’ • The ‘right’ for fulfilment of sexual desires/preferences/orientation • Consenting adults can do what they want (so long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else) • Observations from the animal kingdom

  6. 4) Implications for the Church • Grace, Faith and Discipleship (Jn8:53-9:12)
