Assessing Levels in ks1 science Levels 1 – 3 Electricity
I can name some materials that electricity will travel or will not travel through. I can make a circuit with my own switch and bulb holder. I can say what happens to the electricity when I add more batteries. I can make a circuit using more than one bulb and describe what happens. I can recognise and explain what an electric circuit needs to work. I can say what a good connection is in an electrical circuit. I can compare the difference between an old and a new battery. I can draw a diagram of an electric circuit. I can make a simple electric circuit. I can show the dangers of electricity in my work. I can name safe sources of electricity. I can name 2 things I need to light a bulb. I can tell someone how to use electricity safely. I can name 2 things that use electricity. I can say how to turn electrical things on or off.
How can I help my child in Science in Year 2 ? • In Science, as in other subjects, children need to be able to explain their thinking. • Ask them what they think about science topics and ideas. Encourage them to find out more. • Do practical activities together and talk about it. Use the library. Explore Ks1 and ks2 science websites. • The most important thing is talking about the world around us. Science is everywhere in every part of life! • Get them to observe, think and ask questions.
