4. Do We Have Perkins? • Yes – Next year there will be Perkins Funding for districts • Continue on with 5 year plan format • Use same forms & updated timelines • Still using Perkins IV until reauthorized • Could be 1-2 years before we see Perkins V

5. New Perkins V??? • No one knows for sure • Check OVAE web site for updates - http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ovae/ • 10 Frameworks likely • Possible consortium model with post-secondary according to OVAE Blueprint

6. Funding • Funds should be similar to last year • Will find out exact numbers in May • Same 70/30 formula for districts • Spend down all Perkins FY13 money before June 30th • Use it or lose it……..

7. Changes At KSDE • KSDE CTE team will be handling Perkins workload • Beverly Smith has retired as of January • Desk Monitoring should go to Jay Scott – jscott@ksde.org (electronic is encouraged) • Simplify the Perkins page on KSDE.org

8. Perkins Reporting • Hope to streamline the application and report process for districts and consortiums in future • Will be asking for input from districts and consortiums on improvement • Electronic submission on all future forms and documents • Quality not Quantity

9. Data Reporting • CAR was submitted in December • Final migration to Pathways • Check out Pathways Application for “Report” on the data you submitted • Share Pathways data with all teachers, staff and administration • 6S1 & 6S2

11. Important Dates • 2nd Progress Report – March 1st • CPPSAs CLOSE MARCH 15th • FY 2014 Local Plan & Applications Posted – April 1st (Its not a joke!) • Web site will change to be more streamlined • Documents will be updated • New Dates & Event to be Posted • Perkins Application Work Days - TBD

Professional Development • Externships/Job Shadow for Teachers • Share skills to stay current with technology used in the classroom • Work with all teachers to improve content & instruction strategies • Invite business & industry to your school to talk about work, careers, skills, pay, & daily work

13. Professional Development • Site visit to post-secondary campus for teachers to vertically align curriculum and explore programs/facilities • National industry recognized certifications and credentials • Career Development Facilitator training & workforce resources

14. Professional Development • Collaborate with post-secondary and other schools to create a 1 day CTE specific workshop day • Academic Blending with CTE • Identify several academic areas that could benefit from CTE project-based learning. • Share vocabulary between CTE & Academic • Allow curriculum alignment time
