Why is it important to have a variety of animals in the Bay? • It is important to have a variety of living things in the Bay. Oysters are important to the Bay because they keep it clean. Sea Squirts are an important food source in the Bay. And Blue Crabs are also an important food source. My research will show that Oysters, Sea Squirts, and Blue Crabs are important to the Bay.
Oysters • Oysters are important the Bay because they keep the Bay clean. Oysters are also called the Chesapeake's White Gold. Their beds / reefs support a large community of sea life. Oysters are filter feeders. Filter feeders are things or organisms that clean the Bay and keep it healthy. Also oysters are a big source of food in the Bay and the Bay area.
Sea Squirts • Sea Squirts are an important part of the Bay because they are a food source. Sea Squirts are potato shaped organisms that are eaten by many creatures in the Bay. There are more than 3000 species of Sea Squirts. They are filter feeders. Filter feeders are creatures that clean the bay. Filter feeders are very important!
Blue Crabs • Blue Crabs are important to the Bay because they are a very important food source. Many humans, animals, and sea creatures love to eat Blue Crabs. They also help companies that sell them. Lastly Blue Crabs are important to the ecological stand point.
Conclusion • In conclusion I learned that Oysters, Sea Squirts, and Blue Crabs are very important to the Bay and the Bay environment. They are all very important food sources for people and other animals.
