IFCA Mission Statement Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities will lead, champion and manage a sustainable marine environment and inshore fisheries, by successfully securing the right balance between social, environmental, and economic benefits to ensure healthy seas, sustainable fisheries and a viable industry.
Increase in District Size for new IFCA Coastal waters area increase Devon CC Border to the tidal limits and then to Chepstow gives an area of 270 square nautical miles. This is a 47% increase in existing N. Devon area and a 25.5% increase in total for both south and north. Length of coast increase Existing Area = 535.90 Miles New District = 280.70 Devon = 469.90 Bristol City = 32.90 Plymouth = 37.80 Gloucestershire = 94.40 Torbay = 28.20 N. Somerset = 30.60 Somerset = 108.10 S. Gloucester = 14.70 Length of coast increase = 52%
Increase in District Size for new IFCA Inland area increase Existing Area = 2,645 square miles New District = 3,035 Devon = 2,590 Bristol City = 42 Plymouth = 31 Gloucestershire = 1,047 Torbay = 24 N. Somerset = 144 Somerset = 1,610 S. Gloucester = 192 Inland area increase = 115%
