    5. 5 What is the IIBA The International Institute of Business Analysis is an international non-profit association for business analysis professionals. Its international administrative office is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Talk about PMI – Until now the BA profession did not have an organization to represent it. IIBA seeks to be for the BA profession what PMI is for the project management profession.Talk about PMI – Until now the BA profession did not have an organization to represent it.     7. 7 IIBA Goals Create and develop awareness and recognition of the value and contribution of the role of the Business Analysis Professional Define and maintain the Body of Knowledge Publicly recognize qualified practitioners through an internationally acknowledged certification program Provide a forum for knowledge sharing First bullet - The establishment of an independent, non-profit association will bolster the recognition and value of BAs. Second bullet - At an intern’l and chapter level, the organization provides a forum for BAs to discuss their profession and learn from each other. Third bullet - Defining the BOK plays a critical role in establishing standards of practice. The Definition Works as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information and information systems Understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals Further defining the BA role.     9. 9 A Brief History of the IIBA Inaugural meeting held October 2003 with 23 founding members from two countries March 2004, First Annual General Meeting July 2006, release version 1.6 of the BOK Nov. 10 2006 – First Certification Exam SA Chapter launched October 2007 3Q 2008 BABOK v2.0 First Bullet - In 2003 a group of individuals from Toronto came together with a common vision of creating an industry organization for BAs. They discussed the potential and need for an org of this type. Second bullet - This led to another mtg in April 2004 in which officers were elected and a constitution and bylaws were established. These meetings are held in a dial-in bridge conference format. Third bullet – At the second AGM, the BOK committee released the first version of the BA BOK. Last bullet - The BOK now includes - Most KAs complete or nearly so - First practitioner review of BoK Completed - Board of Experts recruitment underway - Presentation talks more about the BOK later. Encourage participants to go the IIBA web site to review the draft of version 1.4, for the details of what is included in each of these categories.     23. 23 Business Analysis Body of KnowledgeTM The set of tasks, knowledge, & techniques required to identify business needs & determine solutions to business problems. Solutions often include a systems development component, but may also consist of process improvement or organizational change.

    24. 24 Business Analysis Certification IIBA offers the IIBA Certification Program and the Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) designation The IIBA Certification recognises individuals with an advanced level of knowledge and qualifications IIBA CBAP Certification First Sitting held Nov. 10, 2006. Administered by Castle Worldwide for psychometrician assistance Now available as online testing in South Africa

    25. 25 Business Analysis Certification Certification Entrance Criteria Five years (7500 hours) work experience in past 10 years Experience in 4 out of 6 knowledge areas Minimum high school education Two references 21 hours of professional development Version 1.0, in draft form, of the candidate handbook was released in November 2005 and contains the following requirements. Many of these are still being discussed and may change. Bullet 2 – PLUS experience in 3 out of 5 underlying fundamentals Bullet 3 – Currently, there is no reduction in work experience for post secondary education Bullet 4 – Required – must be from career manager, client or a CBAP Bullet 5 – required 21 hours in the last four years directly related to business analysis or the underlying fundamentals.     27. 27 Endorsed Education Providers Education providers endorsed by IIBA: 65 5 in South Africa These providers offer courses on business analysis that are aligned with the IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®). IIBA web site has an area for members to review endorsed education providers Since the IIBA is NOT a training provider, it has developed a strategy for endorsing education and training providers who’s teaching aligns with the BOK. There are currently 20 Education Providers. Read the bullets Note – training providers are actively involved in developing the BOK and therefore the BOK is aligned currently with many training programs that are currently available. CDU’s will be given for training. Keep track of certirifcates listing dates and number of days and hours.     34. 34 The Chapter Council Purpose The purpose of the Chapter Council is to develop standards, processes, administrative infrastructure, and provide a forum for sharing information between the chapters and with the Executive IIBA board. Objectives Develop policies and procedures for the formation and daily management of the chapters Provide a resource for the Chapters to ask questions and share information Be a vehicle for better communication between the IIBA International and the local chapters

There are no limits on the number of Chapter Patrons a chapter can obtain. A chapter may have Patrons in addition to the Premiere Chapter Sponsor. Sponsorship Benefits Benefits to be provided by the Chapter to the Premiere Sponsor and Chapter Patrons. Community visibility on the Chapter’s site as a committed supporter with link to the company’s web site. Provide time during each meeting allowing the Premiere Chapter Sponsor or Chapter Patron for an event to give a quick announcement about their company, or specific recognition of the sponsor/patron from the podium, along with a brief mention of the sponsor’s/patron’s company. Allow Premiere Chapter Sponsor to present at one meeting per year. Topic to be reviewed and approved by Board of Directors. Include Premiere Chapter Sponsor on all meeting invites and other communication to membership. Include Chapter Patrons on materials and invitations relating to the specific event or item provided. (For instance, brochures can include the logo of the company that provided the printing services.) All Chapter signage should include the Premiere Chapter Sponsor’s logo.
