Achievement and Progress • GCSE results, AS courses • Targets are created based on GCSE performance, we use a variety of sources • Targets set for each subject, progress towards these reported home 3 times this year  • In September staff will predict grades for UCAS applications– staff need to be realistic. • Parents' Evening • Make appointments to speak to teachers or Post 16 Team

  5. Early Entry: Students wishing to apply for Oxbridge, medicine, dentistry or vet science will receive support from December with preparing their applications. They need to be particularly aware of any voluntary work, super-curricular work or work experience needed.

  6. Monitoring Progress: Attendance • Daily registration in tutor group • Lesson by lesson registration • Contact with parents where attendance or performance is giving cause for concern

  13. Important to note • Higher & degree apprenticeships are still not widely available • Very competitive • Not all higher & degree apprenticeships are targeted at young people • You are being trained to work in a specific industry • Need to have a CV ready

Where can higher/ degree apprentices study? • As part of their apprenticeship programme, degree apprentices will spend 20% of their time studying at a training provider – usually a higher education institute • Unlike the traditional route, the employer decides the university the apprentice will attend • Whilst this will usually be at HEIs local to the employer, in some cases the apprentice may have to travel long-distances to attend university University Employer Rolls Royce, Derby Northampton University

  16. How to find and apply for an Apprenticeship • Vacancies are posted all year round • Majority of employers will advertise through their own website, or job boards • Large employers will have specific recruitment drives between September and March • Length of the recruitment process can range from weeks to months depending on the scheme
