  3. 2007 EFI Annual Conference New developments and changes since the first announcement during the 2005 AC conference in Barcelona: • Slight changes in dates to make the AC event more convienient to participants • The conference will be organized together with IUFRO!!! • Joint scientific seminar will take 2 days • The conference will be organized in Warsaw

  4. Who? • Faculty of Forestry, Warsaw Agricultural University • State Forests: General Directorate in Warsaw and Regional Directorate in Łódź • Other Polish EFI and IUFRO members

  5. When? • September 3-4 (Monday-Tuesday): internal EFI days • September 5 (Wednesday): EFI Annual Conference • September 6-7(Thursday-Friday): Joint EFI/IUFRO Scientific Seminar • September 8(Saturday): Field trip

  8. How much? • The estimated Conference cost would be ~150 Euro. This includes: • cost of venue • conference materials • conference dinners • refreshments during the conference • The field trip cost would be ~60 Euro.

  9. Accomodation • Rooms for participants booked in two hotels. • Both hotels are located downtown, close to the Old Town, shopping centers, museums, and other Warsaw attractions. • Convienient transportation options in addition to the organized morning and afternoon pick-up and drop-off service by conference bus.

  13. Field trip • Forest Experimental Station in Rogów • The Promotional Forest Complex - Spalsko-Rogowskie Forests, • Bełchatów Forest District, • Part of the Kampinoski National Park in Smardzewice (lunch in Rogów, > 200 km by bus)

  18. Scientific Seminar The role of forestry in the regional development of Europe

Scientific Seminar • Different aspects of the Conference topic to be discussed: • productive and economical importance of forests and forest industry, • environmental role of sustainable forest management, • connections between forestry and rural development, • social and cultural impact of forestry.

  20. Scientific Seminar • An opportunity to lead discussion on the problem in the broad international limits. • A possibility of exchanging experience based on case studies. • A place to create common understanding between scientist, practitioners, policy makers, rulers and society.
