Problem Statement • To create a game that has all aspects of health, including physicaland mental • Whether our game is physical enough, mentally challenging enough • Create a game that is entertaining yet not too complicated (yet not too simple) • Unchanged from Project Proposal
Solutions To the Problem • Super Smash Ball addresses most health aspects • Physical – agile movements required to move the character fast enough • Mental – the user must plan where they want to move the character to • Physical – the user must coordinate the placement of their feet to hit the pads in the correct places and times to move the character in the desired way • Is very entertaining but relatively simple (we will find out how entertaining after user studies)
Further Addressing the Problem • We placed the pads a certain distance from each other (and made them a certain width) to advocate more movement by the user • Had to ensure they were not placed too close to the edge to make the board more stable • Made them 3 cm from the edge • To make game more entertaining, we added multiple balls that follow the character (also made game more challenging) • To make game more accessible, we made the balls move more slowly
Description of our Game • Game where character is avoiding balls bouncing around screen, a user controls the character by stepping on different arrows on a control pad. • 1st prototype • Paper and tape on ground to simulate the control pad, rulers the simulate the balls • 2nd prototype • Piece of cardboard to scale of the board, rulers for the ball • Final prototype • Actual constructed board, code not yet finished and integrated • Demo of the game can be played strictly on the laptop, and has the exact same gameplay as the final game will
Where are We At? • Pretty close to desired position on the timeline • Need to get code working fully before spring break • Also need to further sturdy the board with more 2x4’s • Most important step is to integrate the sensors into the program, and make the game work with the resistor sensor
