Assist UIU in Representing the Interests of End-Use Consumers • Advocacy services at NYISO • Consultant to UIU for select issues at FERC or NYSRC
Subject Matter Areas • Budget, Priorities and Financing (est. 100 hrs) • Planning and Resource Adequacy (est. 400 hrs) • Capacity Markets and Demand Response (est. 850 hrs) • Energy and Ancillary Markets and Demand Response (est. 850 hrs) • Gas Supply and Electric Generation (est. 200 hrs)
Consumer Advocacy ServicesPrimary Responsibilities • Regularly attend NYISO meetings and report to UIU • Advocate positions and develop proposals • Analyze proposed modifications to market rules from FERC, NYSRC, and NYISO • Develop memoranda on relevant issues and recommendations • Interact and coordinate with other consumer groups
Consumer Advocacy ServicesPeriodic Tasks • Draft comments and testimony for FERC • Appear in other administrative or legal proceedings • Provide technical assistance in briefing the PSC
Ideal Candidate Qualifications • Demonstrated experience in the wholesale electric market • Excellent organization and communication skills to promote consumer interests and report back to UIU • Ability to work in collaborative partnerships
Travel Requirements • Located within commuting distance of the Albany area, or be willing to pay for their own travel to all NYISO meetings scheduled to be longer than two hours • All other travel must be first pre-approved in writing by DOS
