STANDARDS-BASED REPORTING • New way to communicate student learning • Grades will accurately reflect what students know in relation to grade-level expectations at a point in time rather than an average over time • Provides a clear and complete answer to the question, “What do my students need to know, understand and be able to do? • Provides a framework for organizing instruction at a student’s own level.
Reporting Topic: Bike Riding Performance Standard: Student can ride a 2-wheel bike independently. • Traditional grading for correctness = student score of 1.9.(Average of scores throughout the journey.) • Grading for learning relative to a standard, based on evidence of what • a student can do at a particular point in time = student score of 3.

FYI Flu Vaccine No Cost Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Clinic for Students Tuesday, October 15 • Flumist (intranasal live influenza vaccine) will be the only vaccine provided • Vaccines will only be provided to students with parental consent • Parental consent forms will be sent home later this week. • Consents must be returned by Friday, September 27th • Parents will be notified if student is not eligible for FluMist • Any child under the age of 9 that did not receive any doses of the flu vaccine last year will require a 2nd dose of the flu vaccine in 4 weeks. 2nd dose will be administered at school. • Vaccine is being provided by the Vaccines For Children (VFC) program. VFC requires consent forms ask if the child has health insurance but insurance is not billed. • Vaccination will be completely free of charge.
