Objective: Patrol with fastest time to tie Square knot wins Pre game: - rules Two scouts grasp rope at either end and are not permitted to let go Play: On command Two scouts tie rope ends together with Square knot Other patrol members may help with advice and raising rope as needed Resource requirements: One 50 foot length of rope # Players: one or more patrols Comment: This is a fooler, it requires lots of thinking Variation: Replace Square Knot with Sheet Bend Remote Square knot Tie Mafeking

Objective: Form a square with a 50 foot length of rope Pre game: Gather each patrol in a large circle Lay rope on floor inside circle Blindfold all scouts Play: Upon command, pick up rope and form a perfect square with the rope. When they think the have succeeded, remove the blindfolds. Patrol with the best square wins. Objective: Cause your partner to step off mat Pre game: Set mats 4 feet apart with rope centered and running across mats Play Players stand facing each other with both feet on mats Players hold rope in hands (Do not tie self to rope) On command, Players pull rope or let loop slide through hands To win, you must be the last one with both feet on the mat and be holding rope Loss of rope or a foot off the mat makes the other player a winner Resource requirements One 8 foot rope Two mats. # Players: two or more patrols Comment: Harder than you think ! Objective: Team building, trust and cooperation Pre game: Line patrols up with materials Play Scouts are paired off and given a rung Several pairs stand together with rungs at shoulder height to form ladder Climber climbs up onto first rung and proceeds across ladder As climber clears rung,that pair moves to front of group to extend ladder Game continues until climber moves 20 to 30 feet. Objective: Be first to lift and transport “container” out of circle Pre game Place “container” in center of 20 foot diameter circle Patrol members are not allowed to enter circle Play At signal, patrol ties ropes to band, stretches band around container and uses ropes to lift container and transport outside of circle Resource requirements Room with space Equipment per patrol: one rope to fence 20 foot diameter circle, one log “container” (6-8 inches dia., 10 inches long), one 2 to 3 inch wide band (cut from inner tube) and six, 12 foot lengths of rope # Players: two or more patrols Variation: Place multiple containers in circle and score based on number moved in fixed amount of time Hot Isotope Transport Troop 19

Objective: Be first to lash transporter and transport “reactor” across finish line Pre game: Line patrols up with materials at starting line Play At signal, patrols lash transporter, attach reactor and transport reactor across finish line. Transporter consists of a three sided frame lashed to a tripod with reactor hanging from top of tripod. Patrol must go back to starting line if nut swings and hits side or reactor Resource requirements Room with space, starting line at one end, finish line at other Equipment per patrol: Reactor (empty paint can with nut hanging from handle on string), six, 6-foot lashing poles, four, 6-foot lengths of lashing rope # Players: two or more patrols Variation: Outdoor game with race course around church Reactor Transporter Troop 19

  11. Objective: Be first to lash A-frame and transport “rider” over 50 foot acid pool A-Frame Race • Pre game: • Mark 10 by 50 foot acid pool between start and finish line for each patrol. Allow space between acid pools for rope holders • Play • At signal, patrols lash A-frame, attach guy lines to top and control lines to ends • Put completed A-frame at edge of acid pool with rider standing on horizontal bar and patrol members holding ends of guy and control ropes. Patrol members use ropes to walk A-frame through acid pool with rider shifting weight from A-frame leg to leg to move A-frame across pool • Team must go back to start line if any patrol member steps in acid pool • Resource requirements: Outdoor game needing lots of space • Equipment per patrol: three, 6-foot lashing poles, three, 6-foot lengths of lashing rope, two 6 foot control lines and four 10 foot guy lines. • # Players: two or more patrols Troop 19

Objective: Be first to lash chariot and transport “rider” around outside of church Pre game: Line patrols up with materials near starting line Play At signal, patrols lash chariot, take chariot to starting line and pull chariot with rider around church. Objective Rescue victim using reach, throw & go sequence and render proper first aid Pre game Select victim, instruct victim if he is to grab the rope ( Victims in hypothermia do not have enough strength ) Victim sits about 8 feet from patrol. Play: Announce victim has fallen in and watch the rescue Scoring: Was rope or staff used? Were the victims vital signs checked? Was the victim warmed by the blanked and treated for hypothermia or shock? Was 911- EMS called? Objective: Score most number of runs in two innings Pre game: rules Card 2 is a double, Card 6 is a triple, Card 10 is a home run Play Line up patrol at bat, Umpire (SPL) holds cards and asks question to first boy. If boy answers question correctly he selects card scores hit on card and becomes base runner. If boy answers wrong he is out. Three outs and next patrol comes to bat.
