  2. What Are Household Hazardous Waste Grants? • Available to local governments & tribes • Establish or expand HHW collection programs and public education • Statutory priority given for: • Rural areas and small cities • Multi-jurisdictional programs

  3. Two Categories of HHW Grants for HD 15 • Infrastructure Projects • Competitive • $4,190,249 U-Waste Countywide Coordination • Non Competitive • $309,751

  4. Priority Projects • Plan or construct new HHW facilities • Expand facilities to accommodate U-Waste • Innovative U-waste Collection opportunities

  5. Infrastructure Grants • 42 Grant Proposals Received, requesting approximately $9 million in funding • 21 Grants received passing scores requesting approximately $4.5 million • 19 Grants* recommended for funding expending $4,190,249 *One grant will receive partial funding

  6. Grant Project Summary • Approximately two-thirds are U-waste projects including “take it back” partnerships • Approximately one third are for construction and expansion of HHW facilities

  7. Coordination Grants • Non competitive • 34 applications received representing 35 counties • Each County received $7 K to $15 K depending on population • Total Funds requested $309,751
