2. Achieve, full and productive employment and decentwork for all, including women and young people • In 2007 through 2009 the world economy was down, along with the labor market. • During this time people resorted to vulnerable forms of work. • With the economy down the employment-to-population ratio took a sharp down turn also. • The goal for this problem is to make sure that everyone has a stable home and job. (and jobs that are safe and decent for women and young people)

4. Progress… • The countries responding to the crisis have made it easier in avoiding more social and economic downturn. • But, the conditions of the labor markets are still bad in many countries and are threatening the progress that has been made already.

5. Universal education: Ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling. • Even though over 89% of children in the developing world are enrolled in a primary education the rate is not great enough to ensure that all children, by 2015, will have a full primary education. • Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia are the main sources of out of school children • In order to reach the goal, all children (of age) will need to enroll by 2009. • They will also need a lot more people to learn how to teach the children

Goal C– Cut the proportion of people who suffer from hunger, from 1990-2015, in half. • Prior to the staple food price hike, many areas were well on their way to meeting their 2015 goal • This price increase has actually increased the number of people suffering from hunger(817million-830 million

10. Progress IS being made, just not enough to meet the goal • Poor people are more likely to be undernourished • a large reason why so many people suffer from hunger is that 42 million have been removed from their homes

12. Success stories • Malawi’s seed and fertilizer voucher program has boosted the country’s agriculture, turning it from barely self-sufficient to having a surplus • Through a similar program, Ghana increased food production by 40% causing an 18% decline in hunger from 2003-2005

15. How is it currently going? • We are currently on track to meet this target. • The economic crisis that began in 2008 slowed the pace at which this target was improving, but it is still going at a steady enough pace to meet the goal.

17. How is the UN helping? • The UN has invested in a program in Ethiopia that brings together farmers, traders, and processors. This makes the growing, trading, and selling process cheaper.

18. It also creates more jobs and generates a greater profit. This has boosted the economy and increased the overall agricultural production rate.

19. In countries like Nepal and Liberia the UN is trying to create more rights for workers such as equal job opportunities and payment.

20. To sum it up it, this goal so far is a success and effort to complete this target has not been a waste. With continued effort the target will be achieved.
