Task TestingTYPES of TESTING For a spreadsheet • You may be given some data to use in your spreadsheet. You may have been given a printout in the booklet showing what is expected to come out of your system. • The booklet may say something like “I include last year’s accounts to look at. This is what your system needs to produce.” SO DO USE IT… AS TEST DATA! Why not photocopy these pages and then use a marker pen to highlight the results YOU should get?
Task TestingTYPES of TESTING For a Database • You may be asked to produce a printout of some of the records in the database. (Maybe all those people who are in class 8M) • Somewhere in the booklet will be details of WHAT needs to be tested/what needs to be produced… maybe they have given a printout of all the records for you. Why not photocopy these pages and then use a marker pen to highlight the results YOU should get?
Task TestingTYPES of TESTING For a Web Site • You may be asked to produce evidence of the hyperlinks working. • You will know what pages you will have to create and what hyperlinks go on which page. • Now list exactly what each hyperlink should link to.
Task TestingSteps to take (4) TESTING SECTION • All you have done so far is to identify what testing needs to be done – the test strategy. • This stage needs you to follow that strategy and comment on it. • Include evidence of testing – printouts are needed! • Add your comments to say you got your EXPECTED results OR NOT! • If you get incorrect results, say what the problem is and how you will fix the problem. • Re-test until you get the expected results!
