5 Ways to Success • Have Motivation: having motivation is having the drive to succeed • Commitment: taken the energy from your motivation and follow through with commitment. • Show Initiative: take the lead, put your self out there and listen to your instincts. • Be Responsible. • Face Your Fears: name your fear, examine it, then develop a plan of attack. THE KEY TO SUCCESS IS YOU!!
BE A CREATOR • There are 2 different roles you can play in college, a creator, or a victim. • Victims blame others for their bad choices, complain about there situations, make excuses for them selves, and repeats the same behavior. • Creators take blame for their bad choices, recognize their situation and fix it, and they change their beliefs and behaviors to create the best results. • BE A CREATOR!!!!
3 Keys to Concentration. 1. Create a routine for your study sessions: Study at the same time everyday, so your brain knows what is coming. 2. Limit Distractions: Study somewhere quiet that has limited distractions so that you can stay focused on the task at hand. 3. Take lots of Breaks: Americans have an average timed attention span of 27 minutes. Study in intervals of twenty minutes with short breaks between. SUCCESS!!!
Time Management. • Build a schedule. • Take responsibility for how you spend your time. • Be flexible. • Make to-do lists or daily flow charts • Consolidate all events to one calendar. TIME IS YOUR FRIEND, DO NOT WASTE IT….
D.A.P.P.S How to set a goal.. • Dated: Give your goal a deadline. • Achievable: Make your goal realistic, and important to you. • Personal: Make the goal yours. Trust that you know better than anyone else what YOU desire. • Positive: Focus energy on what you DO want rather then on what you DON’T want.Translate negative goals into positive goal. • Specific: Clarify what it is that you really want. Being specific keeps you from fooling yourself into believing that you have completed a goal.
There are so many was to be successful in college, but you can also use these tips to be successful in your everyday life. Remember the KEY to success is YOU.
