How would architecture affect your visit to a gallery, exterior and interior???
Architecture • Is the building modern or old? • Are there high ceilings, pillars, doorways or other architectural features that affect how the work is displayed? • What colour are the walls?
How could the Space in an exhibition affect the viewers experience?
Space • The use of a space in an exhibition can provoke psychological Reponses, is the room busy or calm? Crowded? Do you feel comfortable? • Generally exhibition spaces have plenty of space around artworks • Artworks are usually spaced apart.
Name the different factors that you would have to consider with the layout of an exhibition??
Layout • An exhibition could take up more than one room Are there different themes in the exhibition Are works of a similar size or shape grouped together Works are generally placed at eye level . So you can easily view the artists work.
What do you have to consider when discussing ‘access’ into a gallery??
Access • Admission charges • School rates • Concession rates • Free • If you go on a Gallery visit try to determine whether you think the exhibition admission is affordable…
Physical Access • Is the Gallery easy to get to using public transport? • Is the exhibition space accessible to visitors using a wheelchair? • Is it easy to navigate around the gallery space?
How can galleries cateer for people with sensory impairments???
Sensory Impairments • Does the gallery provide copies of the labels and text panels in large print format for visitors with visual impairments. • And are tours available for hard-of-hearing visitors??? • Can the artwork be appreciated by the blind ???
Information • The gallery space should provide • Clear signage (in a universal language) • Publicity material- leaflets, posters, advertising • Reviews of the exhibition • Comment book
Labelling • Individual labels- This label will give information about individual pieces of work. • Contextual labels- This label might give information about the theme of the exhibition and information about the artists life.
Catalogues and Websites • Additional Information about the exhibition and the artist • Information about other gallery events

Francesco Clemente • (born 23 March 1952) is an Italianpainter. His work shows both surrealist and expressionist references .
