Meet the Teacher Darlene R. Williams • This is my 17th year teaching • We moved to Boerne eight years ago • I graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a Bachelor Degree in Science along with teaching certifications in Science 6-12 and Family and Consumer Science 6-12 • I received my Masters in Education Administration from Lamar University
Boerne Awards and Honors • Recognized by Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce with the BISD Job Shadowing Program • Recognized by the Boerne Education Foundation as a recipient of the 2005 Fall Disbursement • Presenter at Region 20 Science Showcase 2006, 2007, 2008 • 3rd place 2009-2010 BMSS Chili Cook-off • Teacher of the Year- BMSS 2008-2009 • Recognized 2009 by the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Business/Education Partnership

General Information 1) In this class your child will be learning about life and the processes that affect the living organisms. 2) The curriculum is designed to meet the TEKS, and Reporting standards for the Texas Biology EOC (End of Course Exam) 3) In order to graduate from a public high school in the state of Texas you student must pass the Biology EOC. 4) The Biology EOC will be given to all enrolled students in May. When students are absent they should check my website. Additional tutorial links will be on my webpage for all students
Supplies needed by all students • three-ring binder • Blue or black pen, pencil • colored pencils • notebook paper • If students want a copy of the textbook, they can check one out in the office. (A set is provided in the classroom)
What We Study • Chemistry of Life • Cells, Cell Theory and Cell Processes • Cellular Reproduction • Genetics • Earth’s history and evolution • Taxonomy • Bacteria, viruses and fungi • Protists • Plants • Ecology • Animals
Pre-AP Biology • Students will be taking about 2-3 tests per grading period • Students will have one outside the classroom project per grading period • Students are responsible for keeping their Greek/Latin root word book up to date—there will be quizzes • Students should expect to have some type of assignment every night. If no assignment, study vocabulary or notes • Students and parents have the option to join my Remind101. No Late work will be accepted in Pre-AP Biology
