Brown deer • There’s a brown deer with white spots and a black tail. • Male deer is called a Buck or a Stag. • Female deer is called a Doe. • A young deer is called a Fawn or a calf.
Antlers • Male deer have antlers. • Female deer do not. • Male deer lose their antlers each spring. • They grow back bigger and stronger then. • They use these antlers for fighting.
Mmm, what’s for dinner? • Deer eat grass, heather, young tree shoots and barks of trees. • Deer eat quickly so they don’t bother to chew their food. • Later they bring their food back up and chew it --- Uggghhh!!!!
Reindeer • Rudolph is a reindeer. Reindeer are very strong runners & swimmers. • They live for about 10yrs. • Both male and female reindeer have antlers. • Their thick fur keeps them warm and helps them to float in water. • They are herbivores but people eat deer!!!
