Main News • on 21 October 2009the president Dmitry A. Medvedevsigned an executive order to establish Northern Federal University on the basis of Arkhangelsk State Technical University • Northern (Arctic) Federal University should be established as legal entity within three months • Programme of the new university development should be developed within six months
Stages of Establishing NAFU • December 2009 - ordersof Agency for Education on establishment of Federal University as autonomous educational institution and appointment of rector (not yet) • December 2009 – concept of establishment and development of Federal University • February-March 2010 – development and approval of the development programme of NAFU by Government of RF • July-August 2010 – attachment of other educational institutions to NAFU

INSTITUTE OF OIL AND GASTraining-and-technical Centre The institute provides training according to the main worker’s professions for the objects and productions of oil-and-gas industry: 11292- drill-operator of pull-out of hole; 11297- drill-operator of production and exploration drilling of boreholes for oil and gas; 11587 - rig builder; 13321 -lab assistant of chemical analysis; 13257 -lab assistant – collector; 13592 -operator of drilling rigs; 13910 -operator of pumping plants; 15764 - operator of dewatering and desalting plant; 15824 -operator of oil-and-gas development; 15870 - operator ofsubsurface repair of boreholes; 16835 -drill-operator assistant of pull-out of hole; 16839 - drill-operator assistant of production and exploration drillingof boreholes for oil and gas (second); 16840 - drill-operator assistant of production and exploration drillingof boreholes for oil and gas (first); 18547- repairmanof technological equipment
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION • Cooperation Agreement between ASTU and Hydro Oil and Energy – 16 August 2005 • Scholarship for 6 ASTU students, 2 post-graduate students 3 professors from Institute of Oil and Gas • Internship of ASTU post-graduate students in Norway; supervision of PhD work on subsea technologies • Internship of ASTU professors in Norway • Practical training of students at Hydro’s facilities in Norway
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION 2003 – Agreement for Cooperation with the company «Schlumberger». Employment of graduates. 2005 – Agreement for Cooperation with the company «Hydro». Educational programs, scholarships, grants, internship at the scientific laboratories of the company. 2006 – Agreement for Cooperation with «Statoil» and the University of Stavanger. Educational programmes in offshore oil-and-gas technologies, scholarships, grants, internship at the scientific laboratories of the companyand the UiS. (2009 – New Agreement) 2007 – ASTUIS - project funded by SIU. Aim – development of the master programme in offshore oil-and-gas development. 2009 – Agreement for Cooperation with Total Association of Professors. Lectures, Total summer school.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION • Visual-informative material related to offshore oil-and-gas development • Laboratory of subsea technologies within offshore oil-and-gas development established • Model of condensed gas deposit “Ormen Lange” • 4 computer-aided working places
COOPERATION IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION • Three-lateral cooperation agreement between ASTU, University of Stavanger and Statoil ASA - 14th June 2006 • Specialization «Offshore Oil and Gas FieldsDevelopment» under financial support of Statoil ASA • UiS develops and conducts the specialization programme consisting of 8 courses for ASTU • September 2006 – first 10 students start to study according to specialization • Internshipof two ASTU professors at UiS • 8 textbooks developed in English and Russian
COOPERATION IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION • June 2008 – 8 students defended diploma projects and graduated from ASTU; 2009 – 11 graduates • State certification committee entered by experts from form Russia an Norway
COOPERATION IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION • Joint application to SIU through Cooperation Programme with Russia • ASTUIS – project funded by SIU (3 000 000 NOK) with the aim: • To develop Master programme in offshore petroleum engineering similar to the programme run at UiS • To develop curriculum for a two-level system • To retrain ASTU professors for new programme • To develop and establish laboratories for research and teaching at ASTU • For ASTU students to take MSc-degree programme in petroleum engineering at UiS
ASTUIS PROJECT – LONG-TERM AMBITIONS Joint research projects between ASTU/UiS/IRIS and oil companies Development of research laboratories at ASTU Development of joint master programme in petroleum engineering Exchange of students and professors between ASTU and UiS
COOPERATION IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION • New Cooperation Agreement between Arkhangelsk State Technical University and StatoilHydro – 21 January 2009 • Support for third round of UiS programme (8 courses) • Scholarship for 18 students, 2 post-graduate students, 3 professors • Practical training of students at StatoilHydro facilities in Norway (4 weeks) • Internship of post-graduate students at a university in Norway (12 weeks) • Support for purchase of study and scientific-technical literature, laboratory equipment, software
DEVELOPMENT OF LOGISTICS UNDER STATOILHYDRO SUPPORT • Cooperation Agreement– signed on 14th October 2009 • Promotion of research and education activities in logistics and transport • Project period: 2009-2011 • Partners: Arkhangelsk State Technical University, Baltic State Technical University, Murmansk State Technical University • Coordinator: High North Centre of Business at Bodø Graduate School of Business
