  2. Who is he? • Name: Ike Strege • Teaches at Sand Creek Intermediate in Fishers, IN. • Teaches 6th grade Math, Social Studies • Shadowed on Nov. 6th

  3. I learned.. • That giving students a nickname shows that you care, and makes them want to care too. It helps increase their effort, something the article “Stuck in the Middle” said would engage Middle School learners. • That making something personal helps students to relate, something I’ll use in my philosophy.

  4. I learned.. • That helping students study with tips, tricks, and advice will help them in the future. • He’s demonstrating teaching/learning/mentoring, helping them acquire good skills for the future. • Teaching the students to be responsible for themselves and not relying on their parents to push them.

  5. I learned… • That the best teachers are the ones who ask you “How’s it going?” • He has 120 students, yet he knows when one is absent and makes sure to ask about it.

  6. I learned.. • That even though it’s a big school, he still makes it feel like you’re in a small class. • He goes around and helps each and every person who needs it. • He even helps with tutoring in the morning.
