  1. EnViroCast Collaboration Module (EVCM) • Application being developed by Storm Center Communications to enhance meteorological collaborations between end users and decision makers - NASA and NOAA funding for development • wrapper around Google Earth • access kml files from anywhere on the internet or local server – satellite data, etc, even AWIPS digital grids to kml • internet exchange of data and information – phone line for voice • common display among remote users • interactive - any user can control lead and control display / functions • animation of imagery • drawing capabilities allow for quick annotation • Demonstrated application to Anchorage CWSU and AAWU (May 2011) to support aviation weather and volcanic ash monitoring • Used regularly by Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA) partners (Governors DEM, FEMA, and NWS Southern Region HQs) for disaster management (wildfires, floods, hurricanes, etc)

Start a collaboration with a bunch of partners / users: • Alaska Region Headquarters • Alaska Aviation Weather Unit (AAWU) • SPoRT (Huntsville, Alabama) • StormCenter Communications (Baltimore, Maryland) • UAF Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) - Peter Webley • Other WFOs ? • GOES-R Proving Ground (here in Juneau)

EnViroCast Collaboration Module (EVCM) • Storm Center Communications developing a Government version of the collaboration tool – EVCM-G • Software available to all Government entities for use on variety of PC platforms • local server capability – faster data displays • simplified animation • better drawing capabilities • enhanced help capabilities • New capabilities developed under government funding available in future updates • Integrate CIMSS/UAF Aviation/High Latitude Proving Ground products into server for EVCM access • Demonstrate in Pacific Region with limited bandwidth capabilities

  4. 2010 Action w.r.t. EVCM Collaboration Tool • Can the EVCM tool help to provide access to “experimental” data for the Pacific Region? • end users without AWIPS • limited band width • Issues can be addressed with EVCM • Government version – EVCM-G freely available • local computer to serve KML files • use tiling of high resolution satellite data for quicker display in bandwidth-limited • look to demonstrate in coming year
