Irrigation • Areas that are fairly dry must use this method to water crops • The deserts on earth are expanding because of irrigation practice among other things • The loss of fertile soil, farming land and forests is due to • The destruction of plant life • Over farming • Cutting down trees Desertification
The Dust Bowl of the 1930s • Long Droughts, periods of dry weather • The fertile soil blew away in heavy winds • Many people relocated because of the Dust Bowl

People on the move • Migration: the movement of people • Pull factors: conditions of other countries pull people to a new location • Push factors: unpleasant conditions push people to a better location.
