CLOUD COMPUTING - A Roadmap to Greener Computing • CLOUD Computing – the buzzword • A great research scope, seems to be greener in terms of energy consumption and cost • Still Adopting CLOUD might not be sustainable! Let’s be Critical!
CLOUD COMPUTING - A Roadmap to Greener Computing • Adoption of Cloud: Fully dependent on Internet (page; 182-183) • What will happen to those societies and people who are out of Internet?
CLOUD COMPUTING - Some Confusions! • Non-technological problems of Cloud : Quality of Service, Security and Privacy • Less cost for infrastructural maintenance and acquisition, though setting up cloud has some initial cost – Return on Investment is not tested! • The economy of “shared by” resources rather than “owned by” resources – problems with Ownership and Loss of Control!
CLOUD of CLOUDsAn Idea! • Mainframe to Personal PC: Less capability; what if Less capable computers can work together to be as capable as Personal PC? (page; 178-179) • Cloud is a concept of on-demand, convenient service model for computational resources • Why don’t all service sectors form this kind of cloud? • Food Cloud/ Energy Cloud/ Electronics cloud/ Cargo cloud etc. – altogether a Cloud of Clouds / Internet of Services • Security Problems / Political Problems / Economical Zone Conflicts?
Some Questions?? • Could we say that QoS and standards of a service are difficult to define in cloud environment? Who will set those, and how? (ICT perspective) • How does cloud incorporate competitiveness from a new service provider who wants to provide low-cost service/solution? (ICT perspective) • A global model of on-demand “Cloud of Clouds” architecture for every service sector (food, energy, garments etc.) – is it viable to implement? (Global perspective)
