Raising The Bar • Creating projects that enhance learning with Multiliteracies • Multiliteracies is a term coined by the New London Group. Because the way people communicate is changing due to new technologies, and shifts in the usage of the English language within different cultures, a new "literacy" must also be used and developed.
Multiliteracies Continued • Based on three notions of design: • Available design • grammar, music, film • Design • Use existing designs to create new • The Redesigned • Finished product
QR Code Learning • Student’s in 6th researched a person for Black History Month. • A poster was created with information and questions about the person. • A QR Code was placed with a video answer for the question. • Visitors from other grades could scan the codes to learn about the person.
Closing Thoughts • This is a process, not a procedure • Create projects, not technology projects • Bringing back strong video techniques • Raise the bar with Multiliteracies • Finally….
