  3. The Lord’s Prayer(Matt 6: 9-13 & Luke 11: 2-4) • Relationship – who we really are • Rationale – where the power lies • Resources – to meet our needs • Reconciliation – restoring hurts • Reliability – trusting God in life’s battles • Reign – it’s God who controls our destiny

  4. Matthew 6: 9-10 (NIV) “This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread”

In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life”

If God did this, won't He freely give us everything else?”

Free those to whom you are unfair and stop their hard labour. Share your food with the hungry and bring poor, homeless people into your own homes.

Then your light will shine like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your God will walk before you, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind”

They ate together in their homes, happy to share their food with joyful hearts. They praised God and were liked by all the people. Every day the Lord added those who were being saved to the group of believers”

  25. When do we get it? “Give us today our daily bread“ • Worshipped daily • Shared fellowship and communion in homes • Ate together • Generously provided for each others needs • Gained a reputation for love • The Result: the Lord added to their number every day!

  26. Points to Ponder “Give us today our daily bread“ • What’s my reputation for generosity like? • How can I demonstrate my faith in a more practical way to both people in the church and others in the community?

  27. Promises to Claim “Give us today our daily bread“ Luke 12:11-12 (The Message) “When they drag you into their meeting places, or into police courts and before judges, don't worry about defending yourselves – what you'll say or how you'll say it. The right words will be there. The Holy Spirit will give you the right words when the time comes”
