BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA • There is no single ministry, acting as a Focal Point for environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina • A few years ago, Environmental Steering Committee (ESC) was established as the inter-entity coordination body for environmental issues • There is no Environmental Protection Agency at the state level • New coordination body, “Managerial Committee for Environment and Sustainable Development” was currently established at the state levelEnvironmental Steering Committee BERCEN BIH
BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA • Last year, Entity Parliaments have passed set of environmental laws, harmonized with European practice These laws are: • Framework Law on Environmental Protection • Law on Water Protection • Law on Waste Management • Law on Nature Protection • Law on Air Protection, and • Law on Ecological Fund (Eco-fund). • Preparation of the by-laws followed the laws adoption process • Main problems for further development are: • Lack of suitable information system and database • Underdeveloped inspection survey methodology • Lack of institutional capacity and self-funds • Insufficient cooperation between different sectors in B&H BERCEN BIH

INSPECTION REPORT AND DECISIONS Report on the inspection: • Name of the instalation and location • Date, duration of the inspection • Descriptionof inspection performed and all relevant findings (technical data, samples) • Non-compliance detected In case of non-compliance, inspector delivers a Decision, document that comprises remediation measures, timeframe and deadline for complaint If operator does not comply with stipulations from a Decision, inspector can institute a lawsuit at the appeal court BERCEN BIH
