What is a verb? • A verb is a word which describes an action (the doing word).
Use of Verb • Verb describes tenses when the action is happening. • PRESENT (It is happening now.) • PAST (It has already happened.) • FUTURE (It is about to happen.)
Example of Verb Tenses Sunday 8 : 00 P.M. In Past Tense :- She cooked yesterday. Monday 8 : 00 P.M. In Present Tense :- She cooks today. Tuesday 8 : 00 P.M. In Future Tense :- She will cook tomorrow.
To find the Verb 1. Find the subject 2. Then ask “ What is it doing?” The bird is flying. Who? The bird “What is the bird doing?” Flying The verb is Flying, it’s what the bird is doing.
Let’s Practice: 1. Find the subject 2. Then ask “ What is it doing?” The boy is playing football. Who? The boy “What is the boy doing?” Playing football The verb is Playing, it’s what the boy is doing.
Let’s Practice: 1. Find the subject 2. Then ask “ What is it doing?” The zebra is running. Who? The zebra “What is the zebra doing?” Running The verb is Running, it’s what the the zebra doing.
