Main goal (longer term): • Setting up a Management and development model for OCPP. To make sure: • Further improvements/developments can be implemented in a way that: • ……it stimulates EV driving in general • ……there are no constraints on the re-use of the standard • ……country/area specific wishes or demands are taken into account • ……all information is easy available without any constraints • ……the protocol will be “open” (acc. Definition: European Interoperability Framework) “A standard that is not managed is not a standard!” OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Goal (of this workshop) Setting up an OCPP “working structure” for realizing the concrete subjects (see next sheet), in a way that it: …can be realized quickly and in a very pragmatic way …can be defined as an “start-up phase” (for the first 6 – 12 months) …can start ASAP with high priority subjects (workshop) …will be in line with the main goal and conditions (slide 1) … OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Subjects: • What are the main subjects we need to deal with? • Governance • Structure • Making decisions • Finance (start-up / continuous) • Other important subjects • Version management (workshop) • -maintenance requests process • -collecting requests / creating first list • Collecting ideas for website • Adoption (optional) • Validation/certification (optional) “No standard is ever complete!” OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Structure: • Steering group: • Setting out the main route • Gives tasks to working group • Consists of main stakeholders • Budget holder • Determine the standard/releases • Handles possible issues • Working group A: • Setting up the standard • execute the specific tasks • Advise to steering group • Consist of OCPP specialists • Executive organisation (facilitator): • Organizer of steering group meetings (and prepare meetings) • Independently leading the working group • Writing down the standard and changes (made by the working group) • Executing the helpdesk function • Making a small annual plan • 2 part-time persons from a independent,- or branch organisation OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Role/Decisions: Who is going to decide what? (Is depending on the chosen structure) Based on the structure of Sheet 6 these are the decisions made by each different role: OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Finance: Make a difference between: Start-up phase (between 6 and 12 months) -learning by doing, experience used for final structure -Finance by one or two obvious parties (e-laad…….) -make sure we can make the necessary steps as quick as possible Continuous (as long as needed) -Finance by all stakeholders -Choosing possible finance structure (membership, contribution,….?) -Differentiation between stakeholders -decided during start-up phase Condition: Low costs as possible Do not create any barrier to participate (acc. Definition: European Interoperability Framework) OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Decissions to make: -Who is going to participate in steering group, working group and executive organisation? -How to keep it workable? -avoid large/unbalanced groups -deal with different interests Have to define different types of stakeholders OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
Pragmatic solution: Working group: (“problem solvers”) -Charge point manufactures/operators -Charge point system software manufactures (central systems) -Service providers -EV Consultancy -Other OCPP content specialists Steering group: (“problem owners”) -Government -City of Amsterdam and G4 (4 leading EV municipals in NL) -e-laad Executive organisation: (“independent facilitator”) -1 facilitator -leads meetings/sessions -facilitates steering/working group -1 standardization specialist: -writes down the standard Kick-off R&D traject stichting e-laad.nl
Decissions to make: Who can join? In principle anybody can join in the working group! *according to open protocol principles, ……… To keep it workable: -there is a maximum of 15 persons -if there are more then the steering group decides who is joining OCPP workshop 31-08-2011
