  10. Resurrection Implications:Justification 1 Corinthians 15:17 (ESV) And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Romans 4:24b–25 (ESV) It will be counted to us who believe in Him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. C.f. Romans 8:11; Colossians 2:12-13

  11. Resurrection Implications:Sanctification Romans 6:4 (ESV) We were buried therefore with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

  17. Application: • As Christians, we can/should look forward to what is on the other side of death. Philippians 1:23 (ESV) I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

  18. Revelation 21:1-5 (ESV) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Application: • We don’t grieve as the world grieves. 1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 (ESV) But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep.

  20. Application: • We shouldn’t be enamored with this world. We are just passing through and it’s going to be replaced by something far better. Colossians 3:1–4 (ESV) If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

  21. Application: • We don’t have to be obsessed with doing everything possible to prolong our lives or cling to this life. 1 Timothy 4:8 (ESV) for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Application: • The way we face life & death is a powerful testimony and help to others. 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (ESV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

  23. Application: • All of the preceding applications are only for those who have trusted their eternal existence on Jesus Christ. Exodus 34:7 (ESV) Who will by no means clear the guilty… Romans 3:23-24 (ESV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

  24. Application: • All of the preceding applications are only for those who have trusted their eternal existence on Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9–10 (ESV) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
