2. Basic Geography • The size of Mexico is 1,972,550 SQ Km. • The capital of Mexico is “Mexico City.” • Other important cities are: Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City.

4. Important landforms, rivers etc • Some landforms in Mexico are: mountains, plateaus, desert, rivers, coast, and The Gulf of Mexico. • Some important rivers in Mexico are: San Juan river, Salado river, Conchos river, and Tula river. • An important lake in Mexico is Lake Texcoco which was a natural lake formation within the valley of Mexico • Some important mountains are Sierra Madre-chief system of Mexico, Monte Alto, and Las Cruces sierras in the center, and by the sierra Nevada in the east.

5. Bordering Mexico • Mexico is bordered by the United States on the north end, and Guatemala and Belize in the south. Climate Mexico is a large country and the climate of Mexico varies. Climates in the desert regions are typically very hot during the day and cool at nights. In general, Mexico city enjoys spring weather year round with the evenings somewhat cooler especially in winter. Demographics & Economy • The population in Mexico is 109,955,400 (July 2008 est.) • The Literacy rate is 89.6% total, 91.8% male, 87.4% female (1995 est.) • Mexico Death rate 4.78 deaths/1000 population (2000 est.) the death rate, while only a rough indicator of the mortality situation in a country accurately indicates the current mortality impact on population growth. 7. Government & Leadership • The Mexican War of Independence (1810-1821) was an armed conflict between the people of Mexico and the Spanish colonial authorities which started on September 16, 1810. • The Mexican Revolution began in November 20, 1910 when trying to overthrow dictator Porfirio Diaz. • Mexico and the US continue to have conflict with the whole immigration issue. This is a source of disagreement while this angers many Mexicans this concerns Americans having Mexicans immigrate in the US.

8. Society • Mexicans speak many different languages including: Spanish, various Mayan, nahuati, and other regional indigenous languages. • Religion The ancient Mexican religion is called the Nahua religion or religion of the Nahuatl (the first Natives of Mexico). Worshipped several deities which present a resemblance with Greek and egyptian deities. The Vivian Guadalupe also called our lady of Guadalupe by most Mexican people. It represents the integration between the Aztecs and the Spanish cultures including their different religious aspects.

9. Foods & Dating • Some common Mexican foods include: tortillas-rolled and baked for enchiladas, fried for tacos or grilled for quesadillas. • Guacamole-Avocado mashed with onions, chilies and cilantro (coriander). Served as a dip or as a garnish. Salsa • Dating is the same as in the US…laws that come with marriage and dating are also similar as though of the US.
