Let’s relate it to free speech in America… • A group of National Socialist Party of America members decided to hold a demonstration in a city with a large number of Jewish residents. • Town council passes ordinance that bans demonstrations that “incite violence, hatred, abuse, or hostility toward a person or group of persons by reasons or reference to religious, racial, ethnic, national, or religious affiliation.”

  6. Charges Against Socrates • There were two charges: first, that Socrates violated the law by "refusing to do reverence to the gods recognized by the city, and introducing other new divinities," and second, by "corrupting the youth."

  7. Let’s Vote! • Was Socrates guilty? • How can a Democracy function with a wide variety of perspectives/viewpoints? • How can you still create a stable nation?
